Happy Holidays!!

Well, I have FINALLY added some new games to my Draggo page and they will be fun to do for the holidays! They are located under the "Seasonal Fun" tab and include math facts, tree decorating, and a word search.  Have fun!
I am also sharing some photos of my cats with you. They are really enjoying napping in our Christmas Village and in our tree!

Fall Fun!

Hello!  Sorry that it has been so long since I have posted, but I have been "sharing" a computer with my daughter and she has had lots of schoolwork to complete:)  We are getting a new computer soon and we are all so excited.
I hope that you have been enjoying the activities that are already on my Draggo page and the links at the top of this blog.  I wanted to let you know that I have added a couple of fun activities to my Draggo page under the "Seasonal Fun" tab.  Hope you have fun learning and playing the games...

Back to school fun!!

Hopefully you are all having a great start to the 2015-16 school year!  It is always amazing to me how quickly the summer flies by:)  I wanted to let you know that I have added a couple of sites to my Draggo bookmarking page.  I put a couple in the "Brain Games" category and some in "Math".  I have not done a very good job keeping up with my blog this summer (due to having lots of fun out-of-town company!), but I am excited about refreshing and updating my blog over the next several weeks.  You can access my Draggo page by clicking on the "Fun Activities" tab at the top of this blog, by clicking on the word "Draggo" to the right of this post, or by clicking here:  Draggo link

Summer Suggestions

As the year comes to a close we all are looking forward to relaxing times of "fun in the sun" and other summertime activities.  Please don't forget to keep your mind and skills sharp by reading daily, keeping a diary or journal and practicing math facts.  If you need any suggestions of things to do, please click on one of the links at the top of this blog for ideas.  When things settle down (hopefully soon!), I will add some new links and tips.

Maker Faire Fun!!

Last week the Lower School enjoyed a fun time of exploration in our gym, our first Maker Faire.  I was joined by Edible Memphis magazine editor, expert weaver, and overall "renaissance woman" Melissa Petersen at our booth entitled "Weaver's Guild."  Melissa and her husband, Kjeld, grow plants and berries for their colors, boil them in a pot and then naturally dye the yarn that Melissa uses to weave with.
Mrs. Petersen generously shared her homemade, naturally dyed yarns with us and we made bracelets and bookmarks on small hand looms.
Girls trying out the "rigid heddle loom."

Learning about waft and warp.
Mrs. Petersen brought photos with examples of some of the berries and plants used to dye the yarns.  We also had some of the beautiful items that she has made on display (scarves and blankets).
